Some favorite things

littlemissmatched Zany Tossed White Flip Flops

The Husband and I were visiting Disney World back in April with my family and we found this store at Downtown Disney West Side. It is the CUTEST store! They have rows and rows of socks in sets of 3 and they are all mismatched, yet somehow they all go together. You might get three white socks, but one might have polka dots, one might have stripes and the other might have zig zags, but they are all in the same colors so they totally go. They also have underwear, clothing, pajamas, accessories and all sorts of bags. I found these flip flops and instantly fell in love! Visit the website and you will find even more cute stuff - boots, bedding, clothing, and furniture. While there are no Little Miss Matched stores in my area, there is one store up north that carries some of her merchandise and I can't wait to visit when The Husband and I head up that way over the Fourth of July!

Yankee Candle Pumpkin Pie

I know some people detest Yankee Candle, but I love them. Sure, they are prices, but I try to buy them with coupons at Bed Bath and Beyond or when they are on sale. I really like that they come in a glass jar with a pretty silver lid. Sure, I could do without the picture on the front, but I can always turn it around so I can't see it :) I also feel like they last longer and burn pretty even. My favorite scents are Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Spice. I know these are fall scents, but I burn them all year long!

Old Navy Metallic Flip Flops

I wear flip flops most of the summer and am always looking for new styles and colors. Last year, I came across Old Navy Metallic Flip Flops and now find myself owning a pair in silver, black, gold and a steel gray color. They are awesome and a nice way to dress up my cute summer outfits.

Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Deep Cleansing Hand Soap

I am such a fan of the Bath & Body works soap line. My favorite is the deep cleansing soap with the little microbeads in them. I wash my hands quite often throughout the day and I don't feel that this soap dries them out as much. Plus, my hands smell great when I'm washing them and after, too! They have a ton of scents, as well as different kinds of soaps (aromatherapy, foaming, moisturinzing, etc.) and I really do like all of them. My favorite scents are Kitchen Spice and Coconut Lime Verbena.

Coppertone Oil Free Sunblock

I have fairly white skin, but I wasn't always careful when in the sun. About 10 years ago, while in Florida, I was being extra idiotic and used an oil (with very low SPF) to tan and ended up with a awful rash - red, hot and itchy bumps. It came back that summer and I went to the dermatologist to get it checked out. Turns out it wasn't sun poisoning, but something else with a name I cannot remember now. Afterward, I always tried to be careful, but the rash kept coming back. Definitely not as bad as the first time, only in a few small places, but still, it was there. While vacationing in North Carolina one year, I noticed that the rash would all but disappear once I showered after a long day of sun and lots of sunblock. I came to the conclusion that the rash was being caused by clogged pores from all the oils in the lotions I was using! I discovered this sunblock and haven't used anything else since! The lotion is light, rubs in easily, and the bumbs haven't been back once. Results! I seriously love this stuff and stock up each summer. I believe it comes in SPF 15, 30 and 45.

It's official!

We are currently homeless!!!It's been a long couple of weeks, but we closed on our condo and are all moved out. There was drama with our association/board and management company right up until close (of course) - the tried to slap us with a last minute $500 transfer fee! Our real estate agent said $500 is unheard of, outrageous and the highest transfer fee she's ever seen has been around $150. RIDICULOUS!

Anyways, we are temporarily staying in a condo my parents own and where my grandma stays when she comes down for the winter. Most of our things are in storage and we have a few things with us at the condo. It's weird, really. While we'll be calling this place home for the next four or so months, I don't think we'll ever feel settled or comfortable, especially since we don't have all of our "things" around us. We are both very anxious to find a house and start this new chapter of our lives!

Movin' Out!!!

So, this weekend is the big day(s) - The Husband and I are moving out of the condo! For now, we'll be moving into another condo that belongs to my parents. They rent it to my grandma during the winter months, but since it's now summer, my grandma has moved back up north and the condo sits empty. We'll be there temporarily while we save and search for our new home.

Tomorrow we'll be moving the big stuff - furniture, bed, etc. - and then the smaller stuff will follow in the days to come. If the bed goes tomorrow, that means tonight will be the last night I spend at my first home. Sure, I can't stand most of my neighbors and I can't wait until we are out from under their thumb, but I still get a little teary-eyed just thinking about it. I've been praying for this day to come for the last 3.5 years, but now that it's here, I'm scared. It all seems to be happening so fast, but then not fast at all. It's such a weird feeling. This condo is where I first lived, on my own and alone. I was my own roommate for 6.5 years and I'm sad to watch this part of my life become my past.

Samson

Samson is our 2-year-old male Yorkie. He is a complete handful, but such a sweetheart and we absolutely love him and can't imagine our lives without him. I know that for a fact, because yesterday he got sick. Really sick. And I thought my world was crumbling. I instantly teared up at work and The Husband had to say "Don't cry, it'll be alright."

We spent the weekend up north, visiting my grandmother. Samson is able to run free up there, without a leash. While I love giving him the freedom, there is nothing we can do about his uncontrollable urge to eat anything and everything if he doesn't have a leash on. We caught him a few times, chomping on something disgusting I'm sure.

Cut to Monday, Memorial Day. He started having bathroom issues. Being small, his stomach can be sensitive at times. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, so we just figured he had upset his stomach a bit and it would play itself out. Come Wednesday morning, he began whining about a half hour earlier then normal. I tried to go back to sleep, but his whining became louder and more urgent. I got up, went to the bathroom and got his stuff ready to take him out (leash, bag, etc.). I let him out of his crate and he ran to the door. I followed and went to put my flip flops on, but they werent by the door. I had to run back into the bedroom and 2 seconds later, when I came out, Samson had already gone #2 on the carpet. It was a mess! The Husband got up and cleaned it up while I took the dog outside to finish. Samson immediately hunched over again - 3 times in total while outside - and went again.

When we came back inside, we both knew he wasn't feeling his best. I said I thought we should put him in the bathroom while we are at work in case he has problems, but The Husband expected to be home early and put him in his crate. Well, maybe he'll change his mind next time, because when The Husband got home later that afternoon, Samson had gone all in his crate, uncontrollably! Poor little guy!

We were told to rush him to the vet, in case he was dehydrated. Of course, our regular vet had gone home for the day so we had to go to an emergency vet. Awesome. After an hour and a half and one accident on the floor of the exam room, The Husband and Samson left for home. We found out that Samson has an overgrowth of bacteria in his stomach and intestines. A kind of bacteria that comes from only one place. Turns out our cute, little guy has a fondness for chomping on dead animal carcass. Sweet.

P.S. - Samson seems to be doing better this morning. He hasn't gone #2 since yesterday, which is a little weird considering he goes every morning, but maybe he's just got nothing left at the moment.
